Smart solution for club of ancient lineage

Skanörs boat club recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, but lives very much in the present. The club is developing rapidly and the Secretary Leif Wessel can not enough praise their recent investment, the access control system Smartair.

- We are very satisfied; it is so much better than the old locks.

Skanörs boat club was formed in 1961 and has today approximately 300 members. Since many are family members, the number of active in the club is close to 900 people. And the word active is a good description of the club. All year around there are ongoing activities, but most of them revolves around the winter seasons “story telling” with refreshments in the clubhouse every Saturday and the summer season's racing every Thursday night finishing off with traditional pea soup.

- This is a club with a lot of atmosphere and comradeship. In recent years we have also had good involvement in our youth activities, so the future looks bright, says Leif Wessel.

The beautiful clubhouse at the basin is the natural meeting place and here have all members’ access. There are also "Dinghy shed" which only some have access to.

- Previously, we had an old lock system with punch cards. It was impractical. For example, you could not remove the keys that were lost.

It was also sensitive to mechanical wear and sand - and just sand, we have an extra big amount of, laughs Leif Wessel.

The needs were analyzed

A member knew a person who worked with ASSA lock system. He was contacted; the club's needs were analyzed and finally stuck it to Smartair.

Smartair Skanörs båtklubbIt is an access control system that works off line and that does not require wiring or connection of power to the door. It is enough batteries to leaf reader.

- We got Smartair installed last summer and I can only see advantages. Now I and the harbor champion easily can enable proximity tags for the members.

We record everything in a computer and can simultaneously set access rights.  A lost tag may quickly be removed and a new activated.

Many advantages

The club house is also rented out for weddings and other celebrations. Then Leif easily can activate a proximity tag, and set access rights and duration. Other advantages, he has not yet had time or reason to use.

Keys Skanörs boatclub- You can also go into the log, and see who passed a reader and when. It is good if something unwanted has happened in the premises.

With the new access control system Leif and the other members may wholeheartedly enjoy what matters most - to sail and to socialize with each other.

Leif himself care tenderly for a ten meters long Norwegian archipelago cruiser in larch wood.

 - It was built in 1947 and I bought it 1976. It is easy to manage and fits my needs. On the other hand his wife Annika and children Ellinor (named after the boat) and Peder do not share his passion for sailing.

 - No, they join me only occasionally, he laughs.
