Convenience at Bysjöstrand
Senior citizens living along Bysjöstrand in Ockelbo, Sweden, are spared using keys. They use tags instead.
Lost keys
“The system is perfect,” says Monica Stark, unit manager and head nurse in Ockelbo.
“Keys used to be a constant headache,” she tells us. The seniors, their relatives or our personnel would lose them or forget to return them. Handling keys took time and cost money.
One battery is enough
The Smartair access control system solves the problem. Smartair works wirelessly, off line, and without any power cable to the door. All you need is a battery in the door leaf reader. The Smartair solution can also be combined with online solutions, e.g. for doors with automated opening.
Uses tags
“Now our tenants, their relatives and our personnel use passes – tags – to unlock all the doors at the facility. We have installed 240 door leaf readers. It can be difficult for the elderly to turn keys, but a pass tag is easy to use.”
Easy to use
Another big advantage according to Monica Stark, is that once closed, tenants' doors are automatically locked from the outside, but remain unlocked from the inside. When the handle is pressed down on the inside, the door opens. No doorknob, no cylinder. Safe, secure and easy to use for the elderly.
Own tag
Tenants and their relatives have tags to their own rooms. Personnel tags open most doors, but the system naturally accommodates levels of authorization. For example, medication closets are only accessible to nursing staff.
“This system is easy to use for everyone,” declares Monica Stark.
