Power

Few industries have as many extremes in their field as the power industry: Intense security requirements, extreme conditions imposed on them, often a large staff and a geographically widespread field of activity.

Now there’s a security solution that can manage all of this. It combines the good economy of an offline system with the flexibility of an online system. Take advantage of the benefits of both systems – combine them and tailor your own security solution!

Sometimes communication and power supply to a building can be iffy. Remote buildings can still be fitted out with electronic authorization using code bearers. The cylinder or reader needs no wiring, because the key or reader contains its own power supply. If a key bearer is lost, it can easily be blocked by reprogramming the cylinder or reader using a setup key or a hand-held terminal. Remote buildings in extreme weather conditions can be fitted out with safe locking and the flexibility of electronic IDs.

If the cylinder or the reader is connected to a substation, it can be controlled and monitored centrally. The substation communicates over the internet, GSM or the landline phone network in realtime, with no need for wiring, providing information on people coming and going, temperatures, humidity, etc. The system administrator easily manages user groups and staff schedules. Temporary code bearers to key areas can be provided to temps. Conveniences like automatic door opening make the workday easier.

Key or card – or maybe both?

Depending on how you put together your security solution, you can choose to use keys or keycards as code bearers. One advantage of electromechanical keys is that they can be integrated into a mechanical locking system and be applied to portable objects that need to be secured (lockers, luggage, carts, etc).
An advantage of using a keycard as your code bearer is that it can serve as an ID card and also be used in other systems. Employees can use their cards to pay for lunch, automatically open doors, log into the computer network, and so on.

Don’t pay for more security than you need

In addition to the convenience for the employees, this system ensures that your security solution is never over-dimensioned, because each area is assigned the right functionality. ASSA’s planning department daily helps customers plan out their security solutions based on their needs and activities.
